About
My name is Winnie
I’ve been a photographer for about 15 years now, with 12 of those as a natural light photographer. Like every other photographer, I started out shooting weddings. Things didn’t turn out as I imagined, so I quickly switched to family and children’s photography.

In the beginning, I struggled to define my style. At the time, the trend was to overexpose images against light backgrounds to create a bright, whitewashed effect. I liked the aesthetic, but after a while, all the images started to look the same. They lacked authenticity and personality.
To achieve that look, I had to follow a set of “rules”—one of which was limiting clients to specific colors or shades in their wardrobe. But that never sat right with me, as it restricted the creative freedom to truly capture each client’s unique character. After all, my philosophy in life is to be authentic and unpretentious—and I want that to shine through in my work.

One thing I’ve come to understand over the years is that light is the true subject of my photography. Once the right lighting is in place, everything else naturally aligns. (And yes—clients become the focal point only after the light has been thoughtfully considered.)
Rather than following passing trends, I chose to focus on discovering the perfect light at each session. It was challenging at first, but during one particular shoot, I experienced a defining “aha” moment. From that point forward, my approach became clear—and I’ve stayed true to it ever since.
